About Me

My name is Colette Lehodey, registered acupuncturist and physiotherapist. I was born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta. I grew up in a bilingual household and graduated from the first bilingual (French/English) High School in Edmonton. I graduated from Physiotherapy in 1985 from the University of Alberta and am a proud U of A alumni. I developped an interest in pain mangement and acupuncture from working at the Cross Cancer Institute. I challenged the provincial Acupuncturist licensing exam in 1994. I studied Traditional Chinese Medicine in Beijing. I initially qualified with the Acunpuncture Foundation of Canada Institue to practice a restricted activity: dry needling with the College of Physical Therapists of Alberta. I worked with Dr. Steven Aung (M.D.) to have one of the first acupuncture programs offered at a North American university: The U of A Certificate Program in medical acupuncture. I have always loved to spend time outdoors in nature. As a child I would love playing in the mud, climb trees to listen to birds & concoct herbal mixtures with flowers in my playhouse. I was happy to ride my bicycle all over the west end of the city. I still love to ride my bicycle to and from . The Five Elements Health Centre was born out of a desire to share the healing effects of a system of medicine that integrates body, mind, and spirit. To quote Dr.Aung — "in chronic conditions one can't always enter the house by the front door to heal a condition; sometimes one has to go in through the back door or the side entrance".
